JOYCE M. CARL, 81, of Parkview Terrace, East Moline, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Parkview Terrace in East Moline. Joyce was born December 25, 1928, in Maumee, OH, to Wilton J. and Florence A. (Ruff) Elgin. She was educated in the Liverpool Grade Schools in Liverpool, IL. Joyce married Percy E. Carl in Mt. Carroll, IL. He died on November 14, 2000. Joyce worked as a cook for various area restaurants. She then owned and operated Joyce’s Jolly Corners Tavern in Savanna, IL. Most recently she was employed as a press operator with Drives, Inc. in Fulton; she also did tax preparation. Joyce enjoyed sewing, needle point, gardening and camping. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Verkruysee of Dwight, IL and Tammie (Mike) Tessendorf of Hillsdale, IL; one son, Orville “Butch” Mathis of Savanna, IL; fifteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one sister, Marian Davis of Eau Claire, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy; one daughter, Cherry Schaver. Funeral Information
