James "Jim" Houzenga

October 21, 1928 - March 31, 2008

JAMES “JIM” HOUZENGA, 79, of 15549 Argo Fay Road, Thomson, IL, died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.

Jim was born October 21, 1928 in Morrison, IL, to George and Katie (Bielema) Houzenga. He was educated in the rural Whiteside and Carroll County grade schools and attended Thomson High School in Thomson, IL. He married Lorraine Dykstra on December 31, 1946 in Fulton, IL. Jim and Lorraine farmed in the Argo Fay area, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church in rural Fulton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Lorraine; three daughters, Kim (Mrs. Kent) Stuart of Chadwick, IL; Kara (Mrs. Barry) Cozart of Carthage, IL and Kris (Mrs. Eric) Dornbush of Carthage, IL; three sons, Gary (Linda) Houzenga of Fulton, IL; Steven (Caroline) Houzenga of Blooming Prairie, MN; and Van (Leigh Ann) Houzenga of Thomson, IL; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Lauren Pelham; one sister, Christine Wiersema; five brothers, John, Henry, Richard, Elmer Houzenga, and one in infancy.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING: Rev. Scott Bonestroo, Pastor of the Spring Valley Reformed Church – Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
